The Letter That Changes Everything
Paul went from hunting Christians to writing the letter that changed everything. Romans will show you exactly why — and it will change you too.

The Power of the Gospel
Paul opens by introducing himself and declaring that the gospel is God’s power for salvation. He then explains why salvation is needed, showing that both Jews and Gentiles stand guilty before a holy God. This prepares the way for the good news: the righteousness we could never earn is freely given through faith in Jesus Christ.

God’s Righteous Judgment
Paul turns to those who trusted in the law and outward traditions, warning that external obedience cannot make anyone righteous before God. Instead of bringing security, relying on rules only leads to judgment because no one keeps them perfectly. True belonging to God, Paul says, comes not from outward signs but from an inward transformation of the heart by the Spirit.

Righteousness Apart From the Law
Paul concludes that all people are guilty before God, then turns to God’s solution. What the law could not accomplish, God did through Jesus. Righteousness is given as a gift through faith in Christ, available to all who believe and not earned by works of the law.

Justified by Faith
Paul turns to the Old Testament to show that faith has always been God’s way of making people righteous. Abraham was counted righteous not because of his works, but because he believed God’s promise. His example shows that God’s plan always included blessing the whole world through faith.

The Results of Justification
This chapter shows our new relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Where Adam’s disobedience brought sin and death, Jesus brings grace, life, and reconciliation. Paul emphasizes that this is not only a future hope but a present reality: believers are already accepted and made righteous before God.

Freedom from Sin
Romans 6 teaches that through new birth in Christ, sin no longer rules over us. Our old self was crucified with Him, and we are now alive to God. In Jesus, we have eternal life and the freedom to live in that new reality.

Released from the Law
Paul uses marriage as a picture of how death with Christ frees us from the law. We no longer live under its obligation but belong to God and are called to live by the Spirit. Though the struggle with sin remains, we are no longer bound to obey it and can now bear fruit for God.

Life in the Spirit
Romans 8 is a chapter of great hope, teaching us to live by the Spirit and rest in God’s peace. The Spirit assures us that we are God’s children and that nothing can separate us from His love. Because of this, we can face the future with confidence and security in Christ.

Children of the Promise
Paul explains that being a child of God comes through His promise, received by faith in Christ, not by natural lineage or works of the law. Israel sought righteousness through the law and missed it, while the Gentiles received it by faith in Jesus. This chapter reminds us that salvation comes through faith in Christ alone.

The Word of Faith
Paul shows that salvation comes through faith in Jesus, not through the law. Whoever believes in their heart and confesses that Jesus is Lord will be saved. Faith comes by hearing the good news, and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

A Remnant Chosen by Grace
Paul turns to the state of Israel. Though the nation largely rejected Jesus as Messiah, God preserved a remnant chosen by grace. Their rejection became a blessing for the world, opening the door of salvation to the Gentiles. Yet Israel has not fallen beyond recovery. God's plan still includes their salvation through faith, revealing His mercy toward all people.

Living Sacrifice
In view of God's mercy, Paul calls us to offer our lives as living sacrifices. We do this through daily choices: renewing our minds with God's Word, serving others with our gifts, and loving one another. It's an invitation to live in peace, serve faithfully, and overcome evil with good.

Submission to Authorities
Our faith should shape how we live each day. Paul calls believers to clothe themselves with the character of Jesus, submitting to governing authorities and showing respect where it's due. He urges us to wake from spiritual slumber and live as children of light, serving the Lord by loving our neighbors.

The Weak and the Strong
The church is filled with believers at different stages of their journey, so Paul calls us to unity instead of judgment. We shouldn't criticize over non-essential convictions; rather, each of us should be fully convinced in our own minds, remembering that anything not done from faith is sin.

Unity among Believers
Paul continues to stress the importance of unity. We are to follow Christ's example by accepting one another. Having internalized the amazing grace explained in the previous chapters, we are now competent ministers of the gospel. It becomes our joy and responsibility to share this life-changing message with others.

Final Instructions and Greetings
Paul closes with affectionate greetings giving final instructions. He warns the believers in Rome to watch out for those who cause division or teach false doctrines. He leaves them with a powerful promise: the God of peace will soon crush Satan under their feet. The gospel he preached is able to keep them strong until the end.
